WHAT IS A BROW LIFT?

A Brow Lift is a surgical procedure that addresses the signs of ageing in the upper portion of the face, particularly around the brow region. As you age, your brows tend to sink and lower, changing their shape and position. The result is increased wrinkles, fine lines and lax skin.

During a Brow Lift procedure, Dr Damon Thomas utilises various techniques to tailor the procedure specifically to you. The brows are lifted and repositioned, excess skin removed and the forehead restored.

There are several types of Brow Lift procedures, as each patient’s situation is unique. Dr Thomas will assess your case during your initial consultation period to determine which version of the Brow Lift procedure is most suitable, as well as what alterations will need to be made to provide your desired result.

TYPES OF BROW LIFTS

Lateral Temporal Lift

A less-invasive version of the two options, a Lateral Temporal Lift focuses on the area around the temple and outside of the eyes and brows. The skin in this area is addressed, with excess skin removed, the outsides of the brows lifted back into a more youthful position, giving a fresh, smooth look that requires little downtime.

Due to all incisions being placed behind the hairline, post-operative scarring is typically well-disguised. Recovery time varies, as each case is customised and therefore slightly different for every patient.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

When a patient shows more prominent signs of ageing, an Endoscopic Brow Lift may be a viable option. Small incisions are made during the procedure, allowing Dr Damon Thomas to reshape and reposition the brows, diminishing forehead lines in the process. The result is a more thorough lift for those noticing the effects of ageing in the upper portion of their face.

Recovery time is generally under two weeks, depending on each patient and their individual case.

Full Brow Lift

Last but not least is our most extensive option, a Full Brow Lift. This version of the Brow Lift procedure provides the most dramatic results, though with incisions placed behind the hairline, those results are typically not accompanied with significant visible scarring. Skin is lifted and smoother, eyebrows are addressed and rejuvenated while the underlying skin structure is also adjusted to produce long-lasting, natural-looking results.

Generally performed under general anaesthesia, a Full Brow Lift will require a recovery period of 2-4 weeks.

Dr Damon Thomas will conduct a thorough assessment of your situation during your initial consultation, where all options will be discussed, as well as goals, expectations and risks.

MAKING AN INFORMED DECISION

Our website is intended to provide general information about Brow Lift surgery and should not be used as a substitute for personalised medical advice. It is important to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon to determine if a Brow Lift is the right procedure for you. The following considerations should be part of your decision-making process.

Risks

All surgical procedures carry risk. The potential risks and complications associated with Brow Lift surgery include, but are not limited to, bleeding, infection, changes in sensation, temporary or permanent hair loss or changes in hair growth near the incision site, poor scarring, nerve damage, facial asymmetry, and the need for additional surgery. It is important to understand the risks involved and weigh up the benefits and drawbacks of surgery before undergoing a Brow Lift.

Recovery

Recovery time after Brow Lift surgery may vary depending on the individual, the extent of the procedure, and the technique used. In general, patients should be prepared to experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising after surgery. Patients must also be prepared to take time off work and other activities and follow post-operative instructions to promote proper healing and minimise the risk of complications.

Results

Individual results may vary depending on a number of factors, including the patient’s natural facial structure and the surgical technique employed. It is critical to have realistic expectations about the outcome of Brow Lift surgery and understand that each patient’s outcome will be unique. It is also important to know that Brow Lift surgery is not intended to replace healthy habits and a good skincare routine, and cannot stop the ageing process.
